UPDATE:March 29, 2016

The lights were dim in Kegney Brothers, a Lynchburg Irish pub, and there were about three people at the bar with a drink in their hands. The bartenders clinked glasses and chatted with two girls to pass time.

They were waiting for psychofunkgrass band Firecracker Jam to play during a voter registration event by political group Lynchburg for Bernie Sanders.

About 40 people attended, said Emily Yinder, member of Lynchburg for Bernie Sanders. As for future plans, Yinder has gotten interest for the traditionally conservative area.

“There will be future events and I even had another band reach out to me to get involved with what I am doing,” Yinder said.

Lynchburg for Bernie Sanders had a rally Feb. 27.
